Room Parents
Every classroom has a Room Parent who serves as the main point of contact between the teacher, the PTA, and the families in that class. Since every teacher has different needs and preferences, close communication between the teacher and Room Parent is key.
What Room Parents Do
- Help the teacher plan classroom celebrations, like holiday parties
- Coordinate a class gift for Teacher Appreciation Week each spring (our Room Parent Coordinators will share details as the date approaches)
- Help the teacher recruit classroom volunteers, gather donations or wish list supplies, and communicate about field trips and school-wide events
- Serve as the communication link between the PTA and parents in the classroom
More Ways to Help
- Manage sign-ups for parties and volunteer needs through a tool like SignUpGenius or the Remind app
- Start a class website or Facebook page (entirely optional)
- Create flyers for class celebrations to send home (all flyers need approval from Mrs. Centeno before going home)
- Help coordinate classroom volunteers for PTA events like Fall Carnival, Book Fair, Red Ribbon Week, and the Talent Show
- Anything else you and your teacher find helpful
A Few Things to Keep in Mind
- If requesting donations for classroom parties or supplies, always make clear that donating is optional and every child is welcome to participate regardless
- When emailing the class list, BCC parents to protect their privacy
